Do you wake up happy? Like, really fucking happy? We all should. But we don't. [If you do, props to you, boo]
The reality is, your fearful thoughts, stressful circumstances and lingering to-do lists are paralyzing you before you even hit the "snooze" button.
I feel you, girl. That was me, everyday, for way too fucking long.
This pattern doesn't have to own you though. A morning routine can give you the structure needed to set you in motion, give meaningful milestones to your day, organize your racing thoughts, prevent unnecessary stress and overwhelm and make you feel overall more productive. Having a morning ritual sets a healthy rhythm to your daily life and quite frankly will be the one thing to keep you fucking sane!
[sorry not sorry for all the F bombs in this blog 😜]
After establishing a healthy routine, I love mornings. Wait. Scratch that. I'm OBSESSED with mornings.
Something about a new day makes me giddy + wanna jump out of bed with joy. But, keep me up past 9 pm & I’m a complete cranky pants. #TotalGrandma. 👵🏻
In case you're curious about my morning routine, here is it. When crafting yours, make sure your new healthy patterns address and support your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Each cup needs daily nourishment to stay full and balanced.
PS: Mornings = "Carrie Time." I used to wake up and "hustle" right away, and it made me anxious + miserable. Now, I focus on self care first and then ease into the hustle, planning my work schedule around my energy + what FEELS best for that day.
Here's what usually goes down 👇🏻
✨ Wake up by 6: 15 am. [I do NOT hit the SNOOZE button or check my phone for the first hour or 2 of my day]
✨ Jump out of bed, literally. Make my bed [there's something about making your bed that makes you feel so damn accomplished]. Put on tunes. Music = immediate mood booster.
✨Facial massage to diminish puffiness + inflammation. Here's my routine.
✨Take my CBD Oil on an empty stomach for anxiety healing.
✨ Make my Herbalife Detox Herbal Tea in Peach.
✨Read 3 Devotionals [yes, 3 are necessary😛🙏🏼]: Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, Your Best Life by Joel Osteen + Blessings for the Morning by Susie Larson. [If God isn't your life-line, I'd recommend a guided meditation.]
✨Do my gratitude practice/gratitude journaling. Download my gratitude journaling worksheet to guide your practice here.
✨Drink my pre-workout + MOVE—whether this is a yoga class, lifting weights or long run, I get my endorphins going. [if you fail to take care of your body + mind, you'll fail to show up + be successful at anything else.]
✨Listen to a business or wellness podcast—usually while working out. It pumps me up and makes me feel like I can accomplish the world that day.
✨Take my supplements—multi-vitamin, fish oil, ashwaghanda + green tea pill.
✨Drink my protein shake.
✨Walk the puppy (without my phone)—there's something out fresh air + nature with your BFF to awaken the soul and make you thankful for another day.
✨Start work at 10 am, every day, no matter what.
✨After business hours: Yoga, bath, personal development reading, blogging, face mask + sometimes girl time, because we all need love, laughter + connection.
Because my newly-implemented gratitude practice has completely transformed the trajectory of my days, I wanted to share it with you babes.
Why is it so important to practice gratitude anyway? Um, where do I begin?
Gratitude helps you celebrate blessings of the present moment, rather than focus on what you've lost or don't have. Since you create more of what you dedicate your energy and thoughts to, the practice of gratitude helps you to shift your mindset from negativity and scarcity to a perspective that is positive and full of possibility. Because your brain doesn't know the difference between perception and reality, it will think and act in accordance to this newly created space of love and manifest things (career, finances) + people that align with this higher vibration.
If that didn't sell you, I will continue the laundry list of benefits 👉🏽 gratitude reduces toxic feelings, like envy, resentment, frustration + regret, improves happiness while minimizing anxiety + depression, helps you overcome stress and trauma, and helps you become a greater participant in your life as opposed to a spectator, powerfully enhancing your life experiences and those of others in the process.
We all have the ability and opportunity to cultivate gratitude and experience its transformative power. I challenge you to commit to just ONE week of gratitude journaling and notice the impact it has on your mental, physical and spiritual well-being. [I have a feeling you might continue past a week 😏]
To help you do this, I've created a gratitude worksheet to guide your daily practice. Click to download below and print out as many sheets as you need—using one per day.
HAPPY JOURNALING, BABES!
