6 things i wish i knew about food sooner...

1️Your environment shapes your eating behaviors
The atmosphere and people you surround yourself every day do in fact heavily influence you.
⁣
If you live in a household where food is used as a stress reliever, you will likely struggle with emotional eating. ⁣

If your mom, grandma or other family member constantly counted calories or macros (fat, protein, carbs), you'll think dieting is the norm and make it your way of life.
⁣
If people around you look at food as “good” or “bad,” you will have similar thoughts. ⁣
⁣
If your friends are always in a challenge, trying a new "way of eating" [cough cough "diet"] or constantly talking about weight & appearance, you inevitably will to.

Your habits and thoughts tend to be a direct result of who you're surrounding yourself with.

CHOOSE WISELY.

⁣
2️ The longer you neglect a negative relationship with food, the longer it persists.
⁣Suppressing an issue or neglecting a situation because it's hard, uncomfortable or fearful, never makes it better. It only drags out the process of dealing with it. Am I right?! ⁣
⁣
Sooner or later, if you want to live a life that's not driven by what you eat [aka, living in hell], you'll need to face your reality with food.

Food will always be fuel to LIVE. You HAVE to make PEACE with it.

Why not start today?

3️ Food is NOT the issue. It's the deeper void that you're trying to fill with FOOD that's the issue.
So many people use dieting as a way to cope with life.

Think of the times in which you started a diet. How often did it coincide with difficult times or transitions in your life?

When women feel overwhelmed, fearful, or out of control in their lives, they often turn their focus to food and weight loss—two aspects they CAN control. .

INSTEAD, look beyond food + evaluate your mindset, environment, past trauma, limiting beliefs—anything that’s not in alignment w/ your true self … the REAL ROOT CAUSE(S) of your food issues.

4️ DIETING & the ALL OR NOTHING mentality keeps you IMPRISONED BY FOOD, only perpetuating the DIET-BINGE CYCLE.
When you diet, your brain senses the restriction as a threat to its food supply. This “survival mode” signals the body to EAT SOME DANG FOOD.

On top of that, the judgement, #anxiety + control that you have over food is interpreted by your body as a form of STRESS. Under these conditions, your body will metabolize your food completely different, often storing it as fat versus processing it for fuel. 🔥

Instead of overly fixating on food, try practicing mindful eating ...

It's all about moderation and tuning into your internal hunger cues ...

It's a practice and it will take time to trust yourself with food again ...

but it sure as heck will get you a lot further in the long-term than the next fad diet.

⁣
5️ The food that we eat or don't eat do not define us as "good" or "bad" people.⁣
⁣No matter if you’re eating superfoods or enjoying wine & pizza with girlfriends (all a/b balance, boos), SHAME + JUDGEMENT of these FOOD DECISIONS do NOT deserve your time or energy.

So STOP.

Weight should never control you or define you.

6. When you DIET, you're making food decisions from a PLACE OF FEAR.
Body change rooted in fear and self-rejection DOES NOT LAST.

Instead of fearing not losing the weight or overeating, try viewing food as nourishment for your beautiful spirit.

This shift naturally dissolves your binge-worthy cravings & creates #mindfuleating patterns that lead to lasting transformation.🌱

From this place, you'll actually be able to eat a cookie and not destroy the whole bag. Wouldn't that be nice, right?!
